Mercury-silver fillings? Not at Meadowbrook Dental.

Some people are not comfortable with “silver” fillings because they may contain up to 50 percent mercury. Others are unhappy with their lack of aesthetic appeal.

Since 1995, we have chosen not to offer mercury-silver fillings at Meadowbrook Dental. During 30 years of practice we have seen them corrode and blacken. With corrosion and exposure to heat, they can expand and crack the teeth around them. This can lead to root canals, crowns and even tooth loss.

Tooth-colored fillings that neither corrode nor expand and contract with temperature are a better option. They bond into the teeth for greater strength.

While being more aesthetically pleasing, bonded fillings require that a smaller amount of the natural tooth be removed. Our patients love them.
